Countertops in the bathroom

May 19, 2008 – 12:21 pm

Countertops in the bathroomBathroom countertops

Not only an integral part of modern kitchen designs, countertops are also hugely popular in contemporary bathrooms. Rather than opting for traditional basin and pedestals, the vast majority of bespoke bathrooms tailor towards countertop basins. Because of their unobtrusive styles and modern look the countertop basin is proving to be one of the most popular choices with wash area remodelling projects.

The countertop, on which to put the basin, comes in many styles, so you’re sure to find a finish that matches your existing bathroom. You will also find it easy to match these up with bathroom tiles, giving the whole wash area a sparkling new look.

Because of the ever increasing demand, we have added some new countertops to our store this week:

Warm beech

Greystone

Bronze Alaska

Black Alaska

Black Granite

Arctic

Alabaster

Pearwood

Verdigris

Teracotta Granite

New Maple & Cherry bathroom furniture

May 15, 2008 – 1:18 pm

Cherry bathroom furnitureCherry bathroom furniture

This week we have added some new ranges to our bathroom furniture category, both as complete combination sets and as stand alone vanity units.

Cherry furniture helps to give a warm, lived-in feel to the bathroom, making it ideal for country designs.  Also, with the right sanitary ware and accessories, cherry furniture can compliment a traditional Victorian style bathroom.

Maple, on the other hand, has a cool, cleaner look. Maple bathroom furniture is very popular with people who have always been accustomed to white in the bathroom, and who may feel a little apprehensive about using darker tones. Maple is also a good choice if wanting to create a Nordic style bathroom.

In the cherry we have:

Liena Furniture Set

Penzance Vanity Unit

Exeter Vanity Unit

In the maple:

Windsor Furniture Set

Winchester Furniture Set

Plymouth Furniture Set

New Bathroom Tiles

April 14, 2008 – 2:42 pm

tiles.jpgMalmo vanity unitThis month we are pleased to announce a whole new section to our online store - bathroom tiles. With twenty-four exciting new ranges from renowned tile manufacturers BCT (British Ceramic Tile), we can now offer the complete bathroom remodelling package.

BCT tiles are designed by UK designers who keep abreast of all the latest interior trends. This means that the tiles are easy to coordinate with the most popular modern bathroom items.

The BCT factory is on the site of the original Candy Tile Company in Devon, which was founded by Frank Candy in the 1860’s. Now, as then, the company uses only local raw materials of the finest quality to make their products.

Each range is manufactured to stringent quality standards, which surpass the latest British and European regulations EN14411. The honeycomb back of the tile was specially developed to allow greater adhesion, and the tile corners are recessed slightly underneath for easier fixing.

BCT strive to minimise their impact on the environment - by sourcing  raw materials locally helps to cut down on transport miles. They recycle as much water as they possibly can and make full use of rainwater collection. Their energy needs are significant but the plant is designed to minimise this as much as possible and they are aiming to cut energy use by 10% over the next 10 years in line with DETR targets. They also crush and recycle waste tiles back into the clay, and where possible use recycled card for packaging and recycle any waste card locally.

The factory uses Italian and Spanish technology to achieve high quality yields through a traditional twice fire process using the latest machinery available. Tiles are transported by robotic car technology and the glazing lines use a combination of a classic waterfall glaze technique and pattern applied by Rotocolor ™, which obtains a random pattern effect on field tiles and avoids the repeat that is prevalent with screen printing technology.

There are over 200 new tiles to choose from, which can all be found within the categories below:
